The Study of Work-stress and Deformation of Metal in Single Crystal. (1st Report)

Shozo Yoshioka and Toru Imura

Abstract:

The experiments were carried out with the aim to investigate the essential relation between stress, strain and Laue pattern. This 1st report is mainly concerned with the change of internal structure of Al single crystal during the tensile deformation. It should be noticed that the direction of Laue spots elongated by tensile strain showed good coincidence with the Leonhardt's curves and that the degree of the elongation was almost in linear relation to the amount of strain. Taking into the consideration ``mosaic structure'' theory, the authors interpreted it as follows: the asterism must be due to the continuous accumulation of unit stresses in unit blocks of crystals. The break-up of elongated Laue spots by annealing might contribute to a sort of recrystallization, temporarily called ``micro-recrystallization'' by the authors. We also attempted T-formed slit which showed some convenient points in analysis operation of patterns photographed.
