Abnormal Structure in Alloys of Eutectic or Eutectoid Type (3rd Report) Abnormal Structure in Ternary Alloys of Eutectic Type

Abstract:

The relations between the alloy composition, in which abnormal structure appears, and the position of eutectic or eutectoid point in binary alloys may be expected to apply to ternary alloys. This expectation was canfirmed in the alloy system Cd-Bi-Sn.
In the alloy system Cd-Bi-Sn, if z is near to E, abnormal structure appears in the alloys of Bi-side, because Bz is longer than Az, and if z is near to E, it appears in the alloys of Cd-side, because Az becomes longer than Bz as is shown in Fig. 2.
