Study on the Compression Test of Zinc and Its Alloys

Abstract:

The mean resistance to deformation, work of deformation and plasticity of zinc with various purity,Zn-Al and Zn-Cu alloys were experimented at elevated temperature. Results obtained were as follows:
(1) Work of compression and mean resistance to compression of MMC are greater than those of EMC but the one is more plastic than the other (Fig. 2 and 3). (2) For Zn-Al alloys,mean resistance to compression vareis with the content of Al and deformation curves(compression load) and with the content of Al and temperature at compression complicatly (Fig. 8∼10). The mean resistance to compression of alloy with about 6% of Al is considerably great the plasticity is small, but alloys with high content of Al have great plasticity at high temperature,so that they can be deformation more easily than that of EMC (Table 4). (3) The mean resistance to compression of Zn-Cu alloys increase with the increase of Cu content and become insignificant when this element of Cu have the same plasticity a EMC (Table 5).
